"Laws
that forbid the carrying of arms disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes." Thomas Jefferson
By Parson Rayphe,
In regards to guns, personally ,I have no particular affinity towards them. I don't get some kind of rush when I am
around firearms.
I realize that some people do just like others are enthralled by cars, fishing, horses, kittens
or alcohol. Although I don't have any statistics I am certain that the improper use of both cars and alcohol
either kills and or negatively impacts far more people in America every year then guns do. Yet I
don't hear about people wanting to outlaw all cars and all alcohol. Why is that?
With that being
said; in regards to firearms, I am growing exceedingly weary of "extremists" who are trying
to impose their antiBible, antiGod, antiamerican agenda's on the rest of us who are, by the way, still the majority.
Swords and spears (weapons of the day) are mentioned all through the Bible, and secular history,
as being instruments of righteousness as well as instruments of entertainment, competitive sport, personal / national
defense and food procurement.
Though
personally I loathe with great disdain even the thought of using any sort of weapon against Yahweh God's most prized and precious possessions (man / woman); weaponry is as old as time and guns are
as American as Mom and apple pie.
Did you know that in early America it was typical for the church Pastor
to come into the church building, lay his rifle (musket) against the pulpit, preach his sermon, and then retrieve his Bible
with his rifle as he exited the building? Do you know why, in many churches today, the Pastor walks to the back of the
church building as every one else leaves? That tradition was not established so that the Pastor could shake
hands with everyone as they were leaving. He could do that up front just as well. Rather, this tradition began
when in early America the Pastor, as shepherd of the flock with his rifle, would be the first one
out the door to insure the safety of the others in case danger was waiting outside the doors.

All understood their peril, and flew
to arms. Every man carried his musket to church, and they were stacked outside the door, while a sentinel paced up and down.
More than once the long sermon was interrupted by the crack of the red men's guns and their wild whoops, as they swarmed out,
of the woods. Springing down from the pulpit, the minister was among the foremost in beating the heathen back, and, when quiet
was restored, probably he resumed and finished his sermon. Source: A New History of the United
States, The Greater Republic by Charles Morris, LL.D., W. E. Scull, 1899.

Even Yeshua Himself instructed His disciples to make sure they had a sword; even
if they had to sell their coats in order get enough money to buy it (Luke 22:36).
Can guns be used for evil? Of course guns
can be used for evil just like a broom stick, car, alcohol, concrete or any other item. So lets just quit buying
into this lie that if a person is intelligent enough to understand that firearms can be a useful, positive
tool then they are somehow to be looked upon as suspect. Gun owners who abide by the law have no reason to feel nefarious.
Saying that guns kill people is like saying cars
kill people, spoons make people fat or pencils misspell words; It is ridiculous. Parson
Rayphe
