What is your perception of food? What would your perception of food
have been in 1650 America, 1850 America or even 1950 America? Before 1950, in America, if you thought about food it would
have been meat and potatoes, fresh fruits and vegetables, and whole grains. Of course you probably wouldn’t have eaten
these all at the same sitting but these are the types of food that you would have had exposure to.
Food from a box? That would have been laughable back then. But today, it’s
far from laughable. As a matter of fact it’s down right sad. Despite what use to be called the best health care in the
world, Americans are among the most obese, unhealthy people on the planet. Why is that? In part because they don’t eat
food. Yes I understand that people call it food and in some cases it looks like food but is it really food? After all people
can call themselves, or anything else, anything they want but does that make it so? Absolutely not! Such is the case for food.
Even though some things are called food; it’s really not.
Why do you think Alzheimer’s and dementia are affecting middle-aged Americans? I won’t go into
the rest of the medical horror stories; you know about them already. But are you doing anything about it? Are you changing
your diet? Are you watching what you eat? Are you keeping the weight down? Are you eliminating the preservatives, herbicides,
insecticides, hormones and dyes from your diet?
These
are all aspects of Sustainable Living; probably some of the most important aspects. So many people want to get all philosophical
and spiritual about every thing yet they don’t even know the most basic of principles of what they should even eat.
Here is a crash course; organic, less meat (eaten
in accordance with Leviticus 11), and eliminate commercially produced dairy products. This is difficult to begin but you will
find that once you start, it becomes easier.
