I have very fond childhood memories of running around our house, into our house, back out of our house, riding my bicycle, playing hide and seek, running into the house, running back outside the house, and other fun-filled summer games in the neighborhood. Oh, and did I mention running in and out of the house? But back then, no one had ever heard the term “home invasion”.

We all know that summer heat brings summer fun. But the combination of these ingredients can bring a recipe for disaster. Hot weather, warm summer breezes, kids running in and out of the house, outdoor chores and cool summer nights are all really great excuses to allow your home security, and safety, guard down.

I was a policeman when “home invasions” were just beginning. I remember thinking how brazen these guys were to kick the front door of a house in during the middle of the day. But then I thought; but what better time? Most people are at work and the neighborhoods are quiet.

I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
John 10:9

But today is different. Violent crime is beginning to be considered normal, home invasions are common knowledge and, depending on their agenda’s, most perpetrators don’t really care if their victims are home, not home, in the city or in the country.

We’ll be discussing remedies to these types of issues in more detail, in the future, but for now; security doors / windows, simply locking doors and windows, dogs and attentiveness can go a long way in your efforts to protect you, your family and your home.

Are you interested in a sustainable lifestyle, crime prevention or emergency preparedness? Then I encourage you to adopt the proper mindset now so that you will have knowledge and the reasonable ability to keep all of your other prized possessions safe and secure in the future.

I’ll see you out in the field,
