Have you ever heard that if you ask 10 _______ their opinion
about _________ you'll get 11 opinions (or more)?
Well, that's the way it is with Sustainable Living. Most people who have given any thought to the subject think they know; yet ask someone else who "knows"
and the answer you receive will almost assuredly be different.
Ask the UN what "Sustainable Living"
is and they will quickly spout of something about "Agenda 21" and then begin to ramble on about "...a profound reorientation of all human society, unlike anything the world has ever experienced
a major shift in the priorities of both governments and individuals and an unprecedented redeployment of human and financial
resources. This shift will demand that a concern for the environmental consequences of every human action be integrated into
individual and collective decision-making at every level." - excerpt, UN Agenda 21
Ask a "new ager" what "sustainable
Living" is to them and you will most likely hear about how we need to keep the earth "green".
My definition is different too and somewhat fluid but right now it is "Utilizing knowledge and skill to manage God-given
resources, in order to sustain life, in accordance with Biblical principles".
I doubt you'll
find that definition anywhere else. Most people who are concerned about Sustainable Living don't care about the Bible or
Godly principles and most people (not all) who care about the Bible give little consideration to Sustainable Living.
Here at Living water Homestead of Faith we cheerfully combine the two. After all Yahweh God did create the earth and
then He told us to manage it for Him.
Unfortunately in the "wisdom" of our "modern" age Sustainable
Living, according to our definition, is a lost art. But let's work together and regain the "Sustainable Living"
way of life. Our future depends upon it.
