Why the Reformation society


When the path of travel becomes obscured and confusing it is often best to return to what is known that works. The trail that America's founders blazed and established worked when it was traveled the way they intended it to be. Participants of The Reformation Society desire to understand what it was that the founders of America knew that caused them to create the grandest Divinely inspired, man made government known to man.  We then endeavor to understand how they utilized their knowledge to form their decisions and implement processes.


Some of the answers to these questions lie in what is known as the Reformation which began in England in 1517, spread to the American colonies, and concluded in 1648. The Reformation occurred because people knew that both the government and the mainline church had gone astray and they both needed to be “reformed”.

Another major spiritual event that shaped America and it's leaders was known as “The Great Awakening” which began in the 1730's and arguably continued into the years of the War for American Independence.


 

Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.  Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.  Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Those who are a part of the Reformation Society hold to the understanding that America was founded upon the principles of Yahweh God as expressed in the Bible.  We understand that the established ideals and processes were superbly accomplished in their establishment but then not honored in future generations. 


As in the previous reformation; The Reformation Society purposes to restore Yahweh God to His rightful place in the lives of our friends, families, neighborhoods, towns, counties, states and governments.  This is to be accomplished for the purpose of the "advancement of the Christian Faith", as stated in the Mayflower Compact and repeatedly reiterated by America's founders, thereby subsequently restoring America to keep her moving forward in the Godly heritage of which she was originally established.

Historically, in America, there is also a period of time known as the second Great Awakening which occurred between the years 1800 and 1840 . And then the Third Great Awakening is known to have occurred between 1880 and 1910.  These "Great Awakenings" had a dramatic affect on the spiritual and political landscapes of America as well as every other facet of American life.

And the fourth Great Awakening? The Fourth Great Awakening is beginning right now! Join us.

“Whereas it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor . . . Now, therefore, I do recommend . . . that we may all unite in rendering unto Him our sincere and humble thanks for His kind care and protection . . . And also that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations, and beseech Him to pardon our national and other transgressions . . . to promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue.”  George Washington

 


The Mourner From the Mists
I had a dream the other night that, well...I didn't understand.
A figure walked in through the mist, with a flintlock in his hand.
His clothes were torn and dirty, as he shivered at my bed,
He took off his three-cornered hat, and speaking low to me, he said -

"We fought a revolution, to secure our liberty.
We wrote the Constitution, as a shield from tyranny.
For future generations, this legacy we gave,
In this, the land of the free - and the home of the brave.

The freedoms we secured for you, we hoped you'd always keep,
The tyrants labored endlessly, while your parents were asleep.
Your freedom's gone - your courage lost - you're no more than a SLAVE,
In this, the land of the free, and the home of the brave.

You buy permits to travel, and permits to own a gun,
Permits to start a business, or to build a place for one -
On land that you believe you own, you pay a yearly rent,
Though you have no voice in saying - how the money's to be spent.

Your children must attend a school, that doesn't educate, and
Your Christian values can't be taught, according to the State.
You read about the current news, in a regulated press,
And you pay a tax, you DO NOT OWE, to please the IRS.

Your money is no longer made of silver or of gold,
You trade your wealth for paper, so your lives can be CONTROLLED.
You pay for crimes that make our nation turn from God in shame,
You've taken SATAN'S NUMBER, and traded in your name.

You've given government control, to those who do you harm,
So they can burn down churches, and seize the family farm.
And keep our country deep in debt, put men of God in jail -
Harrass your fellow countrymen, while corrupted courts prevail.

Your public servants don't uphold the solid oaths they've sworn,
Any your daughters visit doctors, so their children won't be born.
Your leaders send artillery and guns to foreign shores,
And send your sons to slaughter, fighting other people's wars.

Can you regain the freedoms, for which we fought and died,
Or, don't you have the courage and the faith to stand with pride?
And - are there no more values, for which you'll fight to save,
Or, do you wish your children to live in fear and be a SLAVE?

Oh, SONS OF THE REPUBLIC - ARISE and TAKE A STAND!
Defend the Constitution, the Supreme Law of the Land.
Preserve our great REPUBLIC, and each God-given right,
And pray to God to keep the torch of freedom burning bright!"

As I awoke, he'd vanished - in the mist from which he came.
His words were true, we ARE not FREE, but have OURSELVES TO BLAME.
For even now, as tyrants trample each God-given right,
We only watch and tremble - too afraid to stand and fight.

If he stood by YOUR bedside, in a dream while you were asleep,
And wondered what remains of the freedoms he fought to keep,
What would be your answer - if he called out from the grave -
"Is this still the land of the free, and the home of the brave?"
