"To summon, serve and
solidify the people of
El' Shaddai"

  You Can!!

There was nothing particularly mentionable about John. He had few friends, worked around the farm, and sometimes helped neighbors with odd jobs. He didn't cause much trouble and he wasn't particularly outstanding. His father owned a small but working farm. Though his father could have sent John to some of the best schools, John had only three years of county schooling in his youth. In a sad and unfortunate turn of events, John's father passed on when John was only eighteen; leaving the farm to John. Nearby John had a relative we'll call Uncle Ed. Uncle Ed had an extensive library that he opened freely to John. To John's credit, he took advantage of Uncle Ed's library. After a short time John resolved himself to the study of law. Utilizing only his own judgment, common sense and fortitude John studied diligently. At the age of only twenty one years he was admitted to the bar and granted the title of Lawyer. John quickly developed a unique eloquence about him. Joined with a keen business sense that he had also developed, John quickly rose to unexpected prominence.  At the young age of thirty four John was elected to Congress where he remained for three successive years faithfully discharging his duties while continuing to earn a well deserved good reputation. Unfortunately war was on the horizon and John was called to defend his country. John's wisdom became well known and respected as his leadership preserved the safety of many.  Upon faithfully fulfilling his commitment, John returned to his career as a lawyer.  Though active and extremely instrumental in the affairs of which he was involved, due to health issues John passed on at the young age of 47.

How many excuses do you think  John could have used to fall by the way side and not make a difference? Let's see; he lived in a rural area, had to work on the farm, a very minimal education  and his father died at a fairly young age are a few.  Some records also indicate that he was the product of a rape and basically disregarded by his father.

Who was this man? His name is John Penn. You have never heard of John Penn? Along with the many other notable accomplishments listed above John Penn was also a signer of the Declaration of American Independence.

Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.
1 Cor 10:31
KJV

Looking for encouraging inspiration?  One doesn't need to look too far among the founders of America to find it.

Today Johnny would have been told that it's "OK" to feel abandoned and to take a year or two off to sort out his feelings.  Perhaps he would have been diagnosed with ADD and prescribed Ritalin to help him sleep at night.  Or maybe he could have collected his fathers social security;  after all wouldn't he be entitled to it?  Had any of those things occurred (as they would have today) we would have never known of John Penn's potential.

Though not a preferred beginning, we see in the case of John Penn that he was an overcomer.  We see in John Penn someone with fairly humble beginnings and faced with unfortunate circumstances who applied himself and became an intricate part of history.  Friend what role do you have to play in future events?

As a child of God, a part of the body of the Messiah and like John Penn
you too have a valuable contribution to make to history.

For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body,
being many, are one body: so also is Christ.
1 Cor 12:12 KJV

Did you know that Yahweh, God of the Bible calls you a "peculiar treasure"?  You are an intricate part of His plan.  You are needed!  When you don't do your part something is missing.  It's not as good as it could have been!

So pull on those boots, put on the gloves and hat,
role up those sleeves and lets get to work; together.
